Fife Housing Group raise over £1,300 to support Andy’s Man Club

Fife Housing Group colleagues present Andy’s Man Club representatives with a cheque for the money they have raised

After a year of fundraising, Fife Housing Group was delighted to visit Andy’s Man Club’s Dunfermline North branch to present them with a big cheque and chat about the group’s activities throughout the kingdom.

Andy’s Man Club is a men’s suicide prevention and mental health charity that operates nationwide. The charity offers free peer-to-peer support groups both in person and online. They aim to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men facing mental health difficulties through the power of conversation.

Colleagues at Fife Housing Group choose Andy’s Man Club as its Charity of the Year in recognition of the fantastic work it does to help reduce suicide rates, which are considerably higher amongst men but also have a devastating impact on their friends and family.

Housing officer, Lynn Mather, who attended the cheque presentation, said: “The whole organisation got involved, taking part in lots of different fundraising activities including a ‘Steptember’ challenge, Christmas jumper day, Word Cup sweepstake, coffee morning, cold water challenge, book sale and quiz. We even set up ‘FHGbay’ – a play on the well-known online auction website Ebay – where colleagues could list unwanted items for sale with all of the proceeds going into the charity pot.”

Andy’s Man Club representative Kenny Armour added: “The money Fife Housing Group has donated is huge for us, not only keeping the doors open in the nine clubs we have but also providing us with the resources to keep raising awareness and hopefully open more clubs within Fife.

“As a donation-led charity, the contributions we receive are massive for us and directly impact our members. We are forever grateful for all donations and any assistance in raising awareness as we work to prevent other families going through what Andy’s family have gone through and continue to go through today.”

Fife Housing Group said it was delighted to have supported such a worthwhile cause over the last year and will continue supporting charities that make a difference in its local communities.
