Funding available for young Glaswegians to improve their community

People from Glasgow aged 5 to 25 who have an idea to improve their community can apply for a new fund of £500 to make it happen.

The Awesome Foundation is a global network of people who want to make ‘awesome’ things happen. There are chapters all over the world, but to date only one in Scotland, and it’s in Glasgow.

Inspired by the Year of Young People, the Awesome Foundation is giving away a special grant to someone, between the age of 5 and 25 and based in Glasgow, who has a great idea of how they can help their local community.

The award, opening on August 4, is exclusively aimed at supporting young people in Glasgow to realise their ideas.

Beth, co-director of Awesome Glasgow, said: “We can’t wait to see what the young people of Glasgow come up with to support their community. This year, young people are taking the spotlight and we want to help someone to make their idea a reality. What you choose to do beyond that is totally up to you, the only stipulation is we want to see it go to ideas that make Glasgow a better place to call home.”

The applications will all be reviewed by a panel of 10 local trustees, who will select a shortlist of three. These three will then be invited to a pitch night, where they will present their idea to the trustees. The winning project will walk away that night with the £500.

Applications are needed before October 5.
