Each year staff of Weslo Housing Management select a local charity as their charity of the year.

The worthy beneficiaries for 2016/17 were Carers of West Lothian who were presented with a fantastic £2,000 funding boost.

Mike Bruce, Weslo CEO, pictured with Mary-Denise McKernan and Cath Purves from Carers of West Lothian and Weslo staff, said: “Weslo has a strong tradition of offering support, financial or in-kind to help the needs of a varied range of local community groups or individuals who approach us for assistance.

“I am extremely proud of our staff as they do so much to give back to local worthy causes, from showing off their culinary skills by cooking up and selling a tasty lunch to their colleagues every month, to raising money from raffles and competitions held throughout the year.”

In thanking Weslo for the very kind donation, Mary-Denise McKernan, CEO at Carers of West Lothian, said: “Carers of West Lothian has seen an increase in the number of carers seeking support, and an increase in the intensity of the caring role which has been reflected in the demand for our counselling service.

“Carers report a vast improvement in their emotional wellbeing following counselling support, enabling them to continue to care for their loved one for longer. We would like to put this donation towards the cost of providing counselling support to more carers whose emotional health is suffering as a result of caring.”
