Green light for new build residential block in Dundee’s West End

A residential and commercial block is to fill a gap site in Dundee’s West End after an application was approved by the local authority.

Local practice Arktx lodged plans to deliver five new residential apartments with a ground floor retail unit at the junction of Perth Road and Ryehill Lane, which sits within the West End Lanes Conservation Area.

Set across four levels, the first and second floors will both be split into two-bed flats.

Meanwhile, the top floor would be a three-bedroom flat, and the ground floor would comprise a 117 square-metre retail unit.

Each flat will have its own balcony.

In a statement, Arktx wrote: “There are very few development opportunities along this important stretch of Perth Road. The current vacant site is dilapidated and an eyesore. The development provides an opportunity to provide a valuable mixed-use contemporary intervention into the existing townscape.

“The five new residential apartments above provide a rare opportunity to purchase a new-build environmentally sympathetic property in the heart of this much-sought-after community. Each has an external balcony and private space to enjoy.”
