Hillhead Housing Association celebrates good neighbours for Scottish Housing Day

Hillhead Housing Association marked Scottish Housing Day 2025 by celebrating the theme “Everybody Needs Good Neighbours” through a heartwarming tenant-led initiative.
Tenants were invited to nominate their neighbours for a ‘Good Neighbour Award’ —those who go above and beyond to offer kindness, support, and a sense of community. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with a number of thoughtful nominations highlighting the everyday acts of care that make Hillhead a great place to live.
To celebrate the nominees and announce the winners, a special coffee morning was held on the morning of Scottish Housing Day, Wednesday, 17th September. Tenants and staff came together to enjoy refreshments, share stories, and recognise the individuals who help create a welcoming and supportive neighbourhood.

Paula McCann, head of housing services, shared her appreciation: “It was genuinely heartwarming to read the reasons behind each nomination. It’s clear that so many of our tenants are going the extra mile to support their neighbours, whether that’s through small acts of kindness, practical help, or simply being there for a friendly chat. It’s this spirit that makes Hillhead a true community.”
The event was a great success and served as a reminder that strong, caring neighbourhoods are built on the everyday efforts of ordinary people looking out for one another.
Hillhead Housing Association extended its thanks to everyone who submitted a nomination and congratulations to all the nominees and winners. “Your actions truly make a difference,” it added.
