Holyrood committee to hear evidence on local government budget

The Scottish Parliament’s local government and communities committee will tomorrow take evidence on the Scottish Budget 2019-20. 

Cabinet secretary for finance, economy and fair work, Derek Mackay, Cabinet secretary for communities, social security and equalities, Aileen Campbell, COSLA and SOLACE Scotland will appear in front of the committee from 9:45am.

The discussions will most likely focus on the overall views on the budget proposals for next year, interpretations of the budget and how it will impact frontline services, housing and communities.

Evidence provided by COSLA, included in the meeting papers, states: “This perfect storm of reductions, national priorities and protections will have a fundamental impact on the ability of local authorities to invest in people, places and inclusive growth.”
