Homes for Scotland announces 2026 awards shortlist
Sarah Stanger – Senior advisor at the Housing Growth Partnership
Building on the theme of its Homes Build Futures public campaign, sector body Homes for Scotland (HFS) has announced the shortlist for its 2026 awards programme.
With best practice examples spanning the length and breadth of the country, the awards highlight the vast contribution home building makes to Scotland’s social wellbeing, economic growth and prosperity. Finalist details can be found here.
In keeping with its reputation for rigour and robustness, site visits have been undertaken to all those shortlisted in the Development of the Year categories (Private Development sponsored by Pegasus Group) alongside separate senior management interviews to determine who will take home headline Home Builder of the Year awards.
New for 2026, a “One to Watch” award has been introduced to spotlight outstanding individuals at an early stage in their career, whilst a vote by the HFS membership will determine who will be crowned the organisation’s prestigious Supporting Member of the Year.
Winners will be revealed at the Homes for Scotland Annual Lunch (sponsored by Burness Paull) on Friday 15 May at which over 750 senior sector representatives and guests are already confirmed to attend what remains the date in the Scottish home building calendar.
The organisation recently announced Sir Chris Hoy as the guest for its “In Conversation” session (sponsored by Campion Homes and Keepmoat Homes), with broadcaster Stephen Jardine engaging with the former Olympian on a building resilience through leadership-focused session which will touch upon his extraordinary journey of motivation, teamwork, resilience and success as well as powerful personal insights following his cancer diagnosis. Impressionist and comedian Rory Bremner will return to the EICC stage as host.
Chair of the independent judging panel Sarah Stanger, senior advisor at the Housing Growth Partnership, said: “With this now my fifth year of involvement in the awards, I am hugely encouraged by both another high volume of submissions and the geographical spread of entries.
“Judging across key criteria including place, design and sustainability; community engagement and impact; quality and innovation, the independent panel has again been faced with a very tough task. We have enjoyed getting out to developments and meeting not only clearly passionate and highly professional site staff who take great pride in building futures for communities across Scotland but also their customers.”
