Members gathered at Horizon Housing Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) last month to reflect on the organisation’s achievements over the past year and hear more about its plans for continued investment in homes and services.
During the AGM, members heard about key achievements over the past year, alongside Horizon’s continued commitment to investing in its homes, services and communities.
Horizon chief executive Michael Discroll said: “This has been a year of strong performance, but what excites me most is the future. Customers asked for more investment in their homes, greater focus on energy efficiency and value for money.
“We have listened and responded with the largest investment programme in Horizon’s history, while continuing to support customers and develop our colleagues.”
Last year, Horizon’s Tenancy Sustainment Team supported 305 tenants and secured more than £1.36 million in financial gains, helping customers maximise their income and sustain their tenancies. Alongside this, overall tenancy sustainment remained above 93%.
Going forward, Horizon plans to invest more than £3.5m during 2026 and 2027. Alongside over £1.5m in routine servicing and maintenance, the programme will see improvements to kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors and energy efficiency measures.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to recognise the contribution of those who have helped shape Horizon’s journey. Horizon thanked long-serving board member Frances Wood, who stepped down after more than a decade on the board. During that time, Frances served as chair of the Association and played an important role on several governance committees, including the Employment and Audit Sub-committees.
Horizon board chair Jill Pritchard said: “Frances has made an exceptional contribution to Horizon. Her leadership, commitment and passion have left a lasting impact.
“On behalf of the board, colleagues and customers, I thank Frances for her outstanding service. Frances will be greatly missed. I will personally miss her sharp intellect, inherent wisdom and support.”
