Housing Options Scotland to deliver project to support housing and social care
In Control Scotland and Housing Options Scotland have announced a new partnership with IMPACT to deliver a project focused on boosting how housing and adult social care function together.
IMPACT (Improving Adult Care Together) is known as the UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care.
The organisations are now in search of a local authority or Registered Social Landlord (RSL) to be the host site for the 2026–2027 project.
The project will look into tangible methods of boosting alignment between housing and social care, particularly on aiding those with more complex support requirements — such as people with learning disabilities and those with autism, in alignment with Scotland’s Coming Home agenda. The agenda sets out that every person should have the right to live independently, with dignity and choice, in a place they regard as home.
The project will work with a host site to test and improve strategies within a local context, prioritising objectives such as putting housing considerations into care planning, enhancing joint decision-making across services and improving the use of current housing options as well as local resources.
Pauline Lunn, director of In Control Scotland, said: “This project is about working alongside a local partner to explore what more joined-up working between housing and social care can look like in practice.
“We know there is strong commitment across Scotland to supporting people to live well in their communities, and this project offers an opportunity to build on that work and develop approaches that can be shared more widely.”
Local authorities and RSLs are welcome to convey interest in hosting the project, especially those looking to boost the connection between housing and social care.
Expressions of interest close on 17 July 2026 and the host site will be confirmed in August 2026. The project will start in September 2026.
Expressions of interest should be sent to Pauline Lunn at info@in-controlscotland.org.uk.
