The funding, provided through PfP’s charitable arm, Places Foundation, will help the food pantry within the hub continue its work delivering vital food support to people across the area.

The investment reflects PfP’s commitment to supporting thriving communities, working alongside trusted local organisations that make a real difference to people’s lives.

Roystonhill Community Hub serves an area where developments funded by PfP’s investment arm, Thriving Investments, are providing hundreds of affordable homes for local people.

There are currently 552 properties completed or being delivered in the area funded by Thriving Investments’ New Avenue Living fund, which helps deliver high-quality affordable homes for rent across Scotland, creating housing opportunities for essential workers and supporting the regeneration of communities.

Thriving Investments fund director, Ed Crockett, said: “Creating thriving communities means more than building homes. It’s about supporting the people, organisations and services that help communities flourish every day.

“Roystonhill Community Hub provides invaluable support to local residents and we’re proud to strengthen that work through a grant from Places Foundation. As we continue to invest in homes across the local area, we also want to invest in the communities around them and help organisations that are making a real difference to people’s lives.”

Royson Community Pantry is a vital local service that provides affordable food and wider community support to more than 700 members and around 100 families every week, helping people access nutritious food while easing financial pressures. The pantry also connects residents to wider support services, volunteering opportunities and community activities that help reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing.

Pantry member and local resident John Cowie said: “I have been coming to the Pantry for over a year, and it has made a massive difference to my life. Beforehand, I was always running out of food on Universal Credit, so having affordable food weekly has made a significant change in my life. Having this service keeps my spirits up as well as giving me the opportunity to meet new people from my community and allows me to be socially confident.”

Alongside the funding, colleagues from Thriving Investments and Touchstone, which are both part of the PfP Group, and PfP Developments, also volunteered their time at the community hub. The team spent the day carrying out practical improvement works including weeding, pruning and painting, helping to create a welcoming environment for community groups and residents who use the facility.

By working alongside community organisations such as Roystonhill Community Hub, and supporting them through initiatives like this, we can help create places where people can truly thrive.”
