Yorkhill Housing Association bids farewell this week to one of the longest-serving chief executives in social housing.

Marion Menabney joined Yorkhill as a housing officer in 1980 and was very soon promoted to head the Association, a position which, under various titles, she has held for more than 30 years.

Her successor is Tony Mallaghan, currently housing development manager with North Lanarkshire Council, charged with delivering 5000 homes by 2035.

Malcolm Green, Yorkhill Housing Association’s chair, told SHN: “I’ve worked with Marion since she joined us all those years ago. She has always given one hundred per cent to Yorkhill, ensuring that Tony Mallaghan inherits an organisation with low debt, low engagement with the Regulator and high satisfaction levels from both tenants and owners.

“Everyone in Yorkhill owes her a huge debt of gratitude. We wish her all health and happiness in a well-earned retirement and we know that she will want to put her vast experience to good use elsewhere in community service.”

Tony Mallaghan added: “I am delighted to have this great opportunity to join an excellent housing association which is such an important part of the community of Yorkhill. It is a privilege to take over from such an inspiring chief executive as Marion and I look forward to working with the friendly professional staff and board at Yorkhill Housing Association.”
