McTaggart completes rural housing development in Killearn

McTaggart Construction has successfully completed and handed over 11 residential properties at Lampson Road in Killearn to Rural Stirling Housing Association (RSHA).
This rural development represents a vital contribution to addressing housing needs in the picturesque village of Killearn, nestled in the heart of Stirlingshire’s countryside.
The development comprises nine social housing units and two shared equity properties, providing much needed affordable housing options in this desirable rural location. RSHA enlisted MacDonald & Cameron as its project management consultants to oversee the entire development process, ensuring seamless delivery from conception to completion.
Rural Stirling Housing Association chair Fiona Boath welcomed the new homes for Killearn.
“We are delighted to be launching our new homes at Lampson Road,” she said. “They come just a few months after we unveiled other much-welcomed new properties in nearby Croftamie.
“Affordable homes are vital for the communities we serve across Rural Stirlingshire to address an ongoing need for housing, and we are strongly committed to keep on building.”
The Lampson Road development represents more than just new housing, it’s testament to the potential for sensitive development in rural Scotland. By delivering quality homes in Killearn’s established rural setting, this project supports the sustainability and growth of rural communities while preserving the character that makes these locations so special.
The mix of social housing and shared equity properties ensures that families across different income levels can access quality housing in this sought-after rural location, helping to maintain the diverse community fabric that makes Killearn thrive.
“We’re delighted to have successfully delivered these 11 high-quality homes in Killearn,” said Janice Russell, managing director at McTaggart Construction. “Working alongside MacDonald & Cameron and RSHA has been very rewarding, and we’re proud to have contributed to addressing the housing needs in this beautiful rural setting. This project represents our commitment to creating sustainable housing solutions that genuinely serve local communities.”
Recognising the importance of nurturing the next generation of construction professionals, McTaggart Construction partnered with Stirling Employability Partnership to deliver multiple career input sessions throughout the development period.
The company also hosted a comprehensive full-day career information event as part of Balfron High School’s pathway initiative, engaging every S3-S6 pupil and providing insights into the diverse career opportunities and apprenticeship routes available within the construction industry.
To further support young people’s career development, McTaggart welcomed a sixth-year pupil for a week-long work experience placement, offering hands-on exposure to real-world construction practices and professional development.
