Melville Housing Association’s team of 30 dedicated staff have smashed their previous fundraising best by raising £3,053 for dementia charity Alzheimer Scotland.

Alzheimer Scotland has been Melville’s chosen charity for the past 12 months, with staff raising funds through regular monthly events including raffles, quizzes, bake sales and dress down days. On top of this several members of staff were also sponsored to take part in Glasgow’s Great Scottish Run as well as the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 10k.

“Well done and a massive thank you to the team at Melville Housing Association for their fantastic fundraising effort,” said Fiona Lewis, corporate fundraiser for Alzheimer Scotland. “We couldn’t be happier that Melville staff chose to raise funds for us over the past year and to hear that a record breaking amount has been raised is absolutely brilliant.

“To have the support of companies like Melville is invaluable, not only to fund our vital work but also to help us get people talking about dementia. Melville Housing’s support will allow us to deliver these crucial services to people who need them most.”

“Dementia is a condition that many of our staff have first hand experience of,” said Melville’s Martin Sloan. “And I think that’s one of the reasons why this year’s fundraising effort has gone so well. Staff have worked hard to raise this money and we’re delighted it’s going to support such a worthwhile charity and the fantastic job it does across Scotland.”

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia organisation in Scotland, providing a wide range of specialist services for people with dementia and their carers.
