New Alyth residential plan gets unanimous approval
A&J Stephen Ltd has achieved planning approval for a 52-unit residential development in New Alyth, Perth.
Perth & Kinross Council’s Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve the development, with councillors stating that the design was “an ideal fit for the site”.
The proposals are for a mixture of bungalows and two-storey houses, including 13 affordable homes. The site is allocated within the Local Development Plan for 33 units, but through careful design by Stuart Bishop Architects (SBA) and the design team, alongside positive early engagement with planning, it was demonstrated that with good urban design the site can accommodate 52 units and high quality amenity spaces.
Jamie Finlay, director at A & J Stephen, said: “We are delighted to have achieved approval for this important development site, and would like to thank the whole design team for their valuable input. The engagement with planning was positive from day one and we’re looking forward to taking the project to the next stage.”
Stuart Bishop, director at SB Architects, added: ”It’s been a pleasure to work with A & J Stephen and to have such a positive dialogue with planning. We are especially pleased with achieving 52 units on a site allocated for 33, which is particularly important during the current national housing emergency. This was only possible through early engagement and high quality design by the whole design team.”
