New Scots Housing Fair to support refugee integration in Greenock

Scottish Refugee Council is to host the New Scots Housing Fair in Greenock next week.
Bringing together housing providers, support organisations, and members of the refugee and asylum-seeking community in Inverclyde, the fair aims to improve access to housing information and services for New Scots – refugees, asylum seekers, and those with humanitarian protection – while promoting community integration and collaboration among local stakeholders.
The event on June 11th will feature stalls from housing associations, local authorities, employability and education support, and community organisations. There will be interpreters provided.
Emily Edwards, housing development officer at Scottish Refugee Council, said, “Safe and secure housing is the foundation for rebuilding lives. We are delighted to bring the New Scots Housing Fair to Greenock, where communities are working together to create a welcoming environment for those starting new lives in Scotland.”
River Clyde Homes, a key local housing provider, also welcomed the initiative. “We have attended Scottish Refugee Council’s previous events and enjoyed meeting with New Scots in person to chat about their housing needs,” a spokesperson said.
“A few have gone on to settle in Inverclyde. We are excited at the upcoming New Scots Housing Fair taking place in Inverclyde for the first time. It is a great opportunity to showcase all that Inverclyde has to offer as a great place to live, work and play.’
Inverclyde has played a key role in welcoming people displaced by conflict and crises, including those from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. The Housing Fair provides an opportunity for residents and professionals to share knowledge, build connections, and ensure everyone has access to the support they need.
Housing associations and service providers are warmly encouraged to register for a stall at the event to showcase their services, share information, and connect directly with individuals seeking housing support. To book a stall, please register here.
The event is free to attend.
