New social homes in Dingwall welcomed by tenants
Jade and her family moving into their new home.
Albyn Housing Society recently completed 27 new homes in Dingwall, with tenants describing their new homes as being “life-changing” and “beautiful”.
The £7.2 million project was a mixture of cottage flats, semi-detached bungalows, semi-detached houses, and terrace properties, with some homes specifically designed with accessibility needs in mind.
The 27 homes on Willie Wilson Way and Colonels View were completed late last year with all the homes allocated to tenants.
Jade, who lives in the development with her partner and two children, said: “Moving into our new Albyn home has made a huge difference to our day-to-day life. First impressions were that it was so spacious, and the garden has been great for both the children and dogs.
“We did have a small issue with the door, but repairs are already sorting that. What’s meant the most is being able to connect with other children living on the street – it’s been life-changing for my son.”
The properties were built by local contractor Capstone Construction, designed by Inverness-based architects’ Bracewell with engineering services by HGA based in Inverness, and quantity surveying and CDM services provided by Torrance Partnership, based in Invergordon.
The homes utilise state-of-the-art Quantum Heating and Solar Photovoltaic Panels to be as energy efficient as possible, reducing bills for occupants.
Another Albyn tenant, Gemma, added: “We’re very happy as a family in our new home. When we first moved in, we were delighted that it was brand new and really liked the layout.
“Having parking available is great, and the garden has been fantastic for the kids to play in. One of the things we appreciate most is the front of the home and the garden – they’re beautiful.”
Works on the next phase are already underway and will see 15 new homes built comprising a mixture of mid-market rent and LIFT homes, a type of shared equity scheme.
Albyn’s executive director of group services, Andrew Martin, said: “Albyn Housing Society is ready and willing to play our part in delivering the homes that the Highlands need. Seeing our tenants enjoying living in their new homes makes the hard work of all the Albyn team worthwhile.
“Using a local contractor, Capstone Construction, we have been able to work together to create 27 high quality homes that ensure people have a safe, warm and affordable place to call home.”
