Connected Response has appointed Nick Huston as head of business development.
Working closely with local authorities and housing associations, Nick’s role is to identify opportunities for Connected Response’s HeatSage technology. HeatSage has been proven to reduce heating and hot water bills by around 30% for tenants reliant on electric storage heating.
Nick has extensive experience working in the public sector, having spent 17 years working in the North East for Gateshead and South Tyneside, both with local authorities and housing associations; most of this time was spent in asset management, managing capital projects and delivering energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
Nick subsequently moved to National Energy Action, where he was responsible for managing 70 energy efficiency projects across Britain. More recently, Nick has worked in the private sector for heat pump manufacturer Daikin and the social housing arm of the contractor, Wates.
He said: “HeatSage has already been installed in almost 14,000 social housing properties across the UK, yet it had never appeared on my radar. I will be working with the Connected Response team to raise awareness of HeatSage and helping social housing landlords to identify potential sources of funding.
“As a retrofit technology that has an immediate and significant impact on reducing tenant energy bills, is low cost and straightforward to install, and works with existing heaters, HeatSage has huge potential.”
Felix Wight, commercial director at Connected Response, added: “Nick has a skillset which I know will be valued by existing and prospective Connected Response customers alike. For many years, Nick has worked closely with Registered Social Landlords, enabling them to successfully access public funding. I’m looking forward to working with Nick to build the Connected Response business in 2026 and beyond.”
