Orkney Housing Association recognised among Scotland top local employers
Mhairi Hughes, head of corporate governance, said: “It was our first year of running the Modern Apprentice (MA) scheme so to be shortlisted for this national award was a real achievement. The winners on the night have trained 1,000 apprentices in 9 years, and it is great to be recognised alongside them as one of the top three apprentice employers in Scotland.”
John Rodwell, chair of Orkney Housing Association, added: “We pride ourselves on being a great place to work, and offering opportunities for our staff at all stages of their careers.”
In relation to the value of Modern Apprentices, he added: “Bringing Modern Apprentices into the Association has been a very positive experience for us and them. We have an ongoing commitment to develop young people in our community, and have another apprentice who has recently joined our team this Autumn.”
The national awards ceremony was held at the National Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh on November 3rd and was attended by Mhairi Hughes and OHAL’s two apprentices, Emma Barton and Leanne Omand.
