Orkney Housing Association staff dress down to help local charity

Dress Down for CharityStaff at Orkney Housing Association have been dressing down once a month for a good cause.

Colleagues donate money to wear their own choice of clothing rather than uniform on the last Friday of each month to help raise money for local charities, the money is collected and staff then decide which charity they would like to receive the donation.

After consideration, the Orkney Charitable Trust’s ‘Baby Jack Fund’ was selected as the recipient and a group of staff from the Association presented the charity with a cheque for £145.00.

An Orkney Housing Association spokesperson said: “It’s good to see the money we raise go to local causes and we hope to continue dressing down to help other local causes.”

Treasurer of the Orkney Charitable Trust, Mairi Fleet, was delighted to accept the cheque and said: “Thanks to all the staff at Orkney Housing Association for this very generous donation. All our funds are raised locally and 100 per cent used to support young people in Orkney. It is only due to generous acts like these that we are able to support individuals and families in times of real need. Anyone wanting further details of who we support and how to request support should look on our website http://www.octrust.org.uk/ or visit our Facebook page.”
