Murdo Fraser MSP has officially broken ground at Palace View, a new Persimmon Homes North Scotland development in Scone.

The representative for Mid Scotland and Fife was joined on site by operations director Kevin Rees to mark the beginning of construction on the development, which will deliver 104 new homes ranging from two-bedroom semi-detached properties to four-bedroom detached family homes.

To help local families in housing need, the developer will also hand over 37 new homes to a local housing association partner.

Scottish Conservative MSP Murdo Fraser said: “It was a great honour to be asked to cut the turf at the Persimmon Homes site at Scone. This site will provide much-needed housing for local families and will support employment.

“I would particularly commend Persimmon for their excellent track record in providing much-needed apprenticeships in the construction sector.”

Kevin Rees, operations director at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said: “We’re pleased to begin construction at Palace View, a development that will make a real difference for families in Scone and the wider area.

“By delivering a mix of affordable, energy-efficient homes and new housing association properties, we’re helping to meet local need and support the growth of the community.

“We look forward to watching the development take shape and welcoming the first residents into their new homes.”

The first homes at Palace View are expected to be completed in spring 2026.
