Plans for 300‑home Forfar development to go on display
Long‑anticipated proposals for around 300 new homes in Forfar have moved a step closer, with Muir Homes and Scotia Homes lodging a joint proposal of application notice (PAN) for the Westfield site.
The developers are working together on a masterplan for the large area of farmland at Westfield, which had previously attracted separate bids before the combined project emerged in 2024.
The PAN outlines when the plans will be presented to the community. A public drop‑in session will take place at Forfar’s Reid Hall on 28 May, running from 3.30pm to 7pm, with a second consultation scheduled for 18 June.
Project architects Halliday Fraser Munro said the events will feature exhibition boards explaining the proposals, along with feedback forms. Members of the project team will be present to discuss the plans and answer questions.
The Westfield land is allocated for residential development in the Angus Local Development Plan. The site lies west of existing housing on Westfield Loan, with its northern edge facing the Don & Low textile factories on Glamis Road.
A previous standalone application by Muir Homes for land beside the A94 was withdrawn due to noise concerns, but the developers’ combined approach at Westfield is expected to draw significant local interest.
