The former school located on Pitkerro Road has lain empty since the school was knocked down last year.

It is expected that the development would comprise of a mixture of houses and flats, with plans to build six four-bedroom houses alongside eight “cottage-style” flats and six two-bedroom flats. It is anticipated that 75% of the homes within the development will have three or more bedrooms.

The site will be comprised of a “single storey flatted block”.

The application includes an outline of the current waiting list for housing in the Mid Craigie area in Dundee, where there are currently 58 people waiting for a two-bedroom flat. Similarly, 44 people are waiting for a three-bedroom flat.

Dundee Health and Social Care has also requested that special needs accommodation be provided within the site, the Evening Telegraph reports.

The proposals include an allocation of 32 parking spaces on the site for residents to use, with two spaces designated for electric car charging use. A cycle storage unit will also be made available within the development.

There are also plans to build a children’s play area, with the southern end of the former school site being retained by Dundee City Council which is intended to develop the play area for the community.
