Plans unveiled for 35 new homes on former Angus poultry site

Plans have been unveiled for 35 new houses on the site of a former Angus poultry processing plant.

The site is situated on the corner of Woodside Road and Dundee Street in Letham, The Courier & Advertiser (Angus and Dundee) reports.

For a number of years it had been operated by Mitchell of Letham, but it was later sold to the 2 Sisters food group. The factory was later bought by One Stop Halal. But by 2015 it was shut down for a strategic review.

There have been attempts to sell the factory but it remained doorman. Recently, the buildings have been knocked down.

Angus Council has now received a planning permission in principle application for residential redevelopment of the brownfield site that spans across two acres. The application was prepared on behalf of Glen Etive projects for Prospect Estates, which is based in West Yorkshire.

According to the draft designs, the plans lay out a combination of two-storey, two and three-bed houses. Dundee Street would provide access to the site.

A planning statement for the application reads: “The site was a former vacant factory. It has now been demolished and cleared. It has been highly marketed and therefore is no interest for commercial use.”
