Plans have been unveiled for a £40 million development of flats, premium office space and hotel next to the new V&A Museum in Dundee.

Located immediately north of the V&A Museum of Design and opposite the new entrance to Dundee’s train station (Site 6 of the waterfront project), the development will see the construction of 67 flats for the private rented sector and 50,000sq ft of Grade A office space, with the 120-bed hotel to be aimed at the upper end of the visitor market.

The announcement comes after plans for another plot on the £1billion redevelopment were revealed.

Robertson has been chosen as preferred developer for the project.

Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson, said: “Dundee Waterfront is an exciting and innovative development project so we are naturally delighted to be selected as preferred developer for this exclusive, flagship development.

“The team behind the Waterfront is ambitious and enthusiastic about this project and we are delighted to be working with them. We are looking forward to delivering something the whole of Scotland can be proud of.”

The private rented sector element of the development will include one, two and three bedroom flats appealing to a wide market including young professionals, couples, families, retired couples and business lets.

The 50,000 sq ft of Grade A office space will extend to four floors of open plan office space, with potential for accommodating a number of uses including back-office, technology, professional services, financial services, public sector organisations or possible call centre users.

Meanwhile the hotel will help meet the forecast demand for accommodation in the central waterfront as growing numbers of visitors and tourists visit Dundee.

Mr Shewan added: “This development promises to be a high quality addition to Dundee’s flourishing Waterfront area and we are looking forward to moving on to the next stage of the project.”
