In December 2018, planning permission in principle was given for the wider development. The wider development consists of housing, roads and footpaths, The Courier & Advertiser (Angus and Dundee) reports.

Now, Miller Homes has lodged an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions.

The application is looking for council approval for specific details concerning the proposed homes.

The Western Blairgowrie development is divided into three phases from the Dunkeld Road area to Ardblair Road.

The development forms part of a masterplan from Westpark Partnership LLP to deliver 400 houses, as well as retail development and educational provisions.

Phase 2B of the development would be located beside 2A, between Essendy Road and Dunkeld Road, which has planning permission for the delivery of 30 private homes. 

Phase two would then be completed with 102 homes. 

Over the years, residents and councillors have objected to the developments, expressing worries over flooding problems and infrastructure. 

During January last year, residents had said they “feel left in the dark” due to Persimmon’s plan to deliver 152 houses in Gallowbank Field. 

A Miller Homes supporting statement said: “As detailed earlier, this phase 2B development will complete the illustrative masterplan, delivering a cohesive layout with the already approved phase 2A area and providing much-needed new market housing to Blairgowrie, which is set out in the existing housing projections and the allocation in the development plan.

“The homes will be built to the newest building standards and technical specifications, achieving sustainable development in line with local and national policy grounds.”

The homes would be two-storey semi-detached or detached dwellings.
