Reidvale consults on 10-year Community Investment Strategy
Reidvale Housing Association has launched a wide-ranging consultation with tenants, homeowners and local businesses on its new Community Investment Strategy, setting out plans to invest more than £25 million in homes and neighbourhoods over the next decade.
The draft strategy, covering the period 2025 to 2035, focuses on safeguarding Reidvale’s historic sandstone tenements, improving housing quality and energy efficiency, and strengthening neighbourhoods through a place-based approach to investment.
Reidvale owns and manages 898 social rented homes, provides factoring services to more than 200 homeowners, and works with around 100 commercial premises across South Dennistoun. The majority of its housing stock dates from before 1919, meaning significant planned investment is required as earlier major repair programmes reach the end of their lifespan.
Detailed surveys show that more than £25m of work will be required over the next 10 years to keep homes safe, warm and energy efficient, rising to around £74m over 30 years. By planning this investment in advance, rather than reacting to individual issues, Reidvale aims to reduce disruption, deliver better value for money and protect the area’s built heritage.
Central to the strategy is a commitment to co-production. Reidvale has divided its operating area into nine local ‘Places’, each grouping streets and shared backcourts. These Places will form the basis for future engagement, allowing residents to directly shape priorities, standards and delivery in their own neighbourhoods.
The consultation invites feedback on a new Reidvale Property Standard and Place Standard, covering issues such as internal improvements, common repairs, safety, accessibility, and the quality of shared outdoor spaces. Responses will directly inform how future investment programmes are designed and rolled out.
Julie Smilie, interim director at Reidvale Housing Association, said the consultation marks an important moment for the organisation and the community: “For almost 50 years, Reidvale has been built on people coming together to protect their homes and neighbourhoods. This strategy is about reconnecting with that tradition, being honest about the scale of investment required, and working with tenants and owners to decide what matters most and how we move forward together.”
Residents are invited to attend local consultation events at the Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesday 27 January 2026, with separate sessions for tenants and homeowners. Those unable to attend can also take part by completing an online or paper questionnaire.
