Robertson acquires land for new homes in Winchburgh
Housebuilder Robertson Homes has begun construction of 71 new homes in Winchburgh, West Lothian, after completing the acquisition of a nine-acre site.
The development, called Castle Gate, is situated on the Western edge of Winchburgh off the B9080 close to Shale Road, and will feature a range of three, four and five-bedroom detached homes.
Castle Gate is the second development for Robertson Homes within the Winchburgh Masterplan, one of the largest placemaking projects in the UK. The independently-owned housebuilder completed sales of 53 homes at Glendevon Grange on the west side of the Masterplan in June 2023.
When complete, the masterplan will create at least 3,450 new homes. It includes improved transport links, a mixed-use town centre, primary and secondary schools and an 85-acre district park.
Michael Izzi, land director at Robertson Homes, said: “Castle Gate will build on the success of Glendevon Grange, which proved popular for families wanting a village lifestyle in an attractive and well-designed development, whilst being within easy access to Edinburgh, just 12 miles away.
“As with our previous Winchburgh development, we will be focusing on what modern families are looking for in a new home – extra living space, luxury specifications, including designer kitchens and top-of-the-range fixtures and fittings and, of course, our garden rooms which have become a must-have addition across our range of homes.”
The first homes for sale at Castle Gate are expected to be released in May 2026 with the first completions due in August 2026.
Michael added: “Winchburgh enjoys an enviable location and new transport links, including a railway station, which recently received planning consent, and the new M9 junction close to Castle Gate, will make access to Edinburgh even easier.
“The new Union Canal marina increases tourist facilities and two new secondary schools and the recently opened Hawkhill Primary School provide great education opportunities. It really is a fantastic time to put down roots in this exciting stage of development for the new village.”
