Second chance to view proposed Glasgow city centre student accommodation plan

Initial designs for the Cadogan Street site

Members of the public are invited to attend a second consultation event on proposals for purpose-built student accommodation in Glasgow city centre.

Bankfoot APAM wants to replace a highly energy-inefficient office building at 38 Cadogan Street that is no longer viable to modernise.

The proposed development includes student-focused amenity spaces such as lounges, a gym, co-working areas, and forms part of the wider regeneration of the area.

The developer held a first consultation event in May following the submission of a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) to Glasgow City Council.

Taking place on Tuesday 24 June 2025, from 3.00pm to 7.00pm at 38 Cadogan Street, G2 7LP, the second event will give the local community another opportunity to view the refined proposals for the prominent site.

Chris Moore, managing director at Bankfoot APAM, said: “We are delighted to be bringing forward our proposed plans for Cadogan Street to the local community as part of our ongoing consultation process.

“Through the delivery of quality accommodation, use of existing site conditions and carefully thought-out public use, we are confident that the proposals will establish strong connections to the neighbouring streets and enhance the city’s already vibrant and liveable centre.

“We would encourage anyone with an interested in the proposals to attend our upcoming consultation event. The event will provide a second opportunity for members of the community to view the proposals and ask questions of the project team. The comments received during the consultation process will play a pivotal role in shaping the proposals.”

It is anticipated that Bankfoot APAM will submit a full planning application to the council later in the summer.

Just this week, Glasgow City Council approved new student accommodation developments at 138 Hydepark Street and on the site of the former ABC music venue on Sauchiehall Street.
