Housing professionals from across Scotland will come together in Glasgow this April for a focused day of discussion examining the key pressures and practical challenges shaping the sector.

The Share Annual Conference will see delegates gather at the Hilton Glasgow on 30th April for a programme designed to explore how organisations are responding to evolving expectations, with sessions spanning regulation, leadership, service delivery and emerging trends.

Share will bring together a range of speakers from across housing, policy, legal and community sectors, creating a forum for open conversation and shared learning.

Daryl McIntosh, chief executive at Share, said: “Across the housing sector, there is a growing recognition that the challenges we face are interconnected - from regulation and governance through to service delivery and community impact.

“What matters now is creating space for people to come together, share experience and explore what works in practice. That’s how we move forward in a meaningful way.”

The programme will open with a keynote sponsored by ng homes, examining how the outcome of the upcoming Holyrood election could shape the housing landscape. With the election falling just days after the conference, there will be much to discuss around what the result could mean for the sector including the implications for funding, the provision of social and affordable homes and the wider policy direction ahead.

This will be followed by a panel discussion focused on damp and mould, sponsored by SteriSystems, bringing together legal, social and private sector perspectives to examine how organisations are responding to tenant needs, and what the upcoming damp and mould legislation, due to come into force in Scotland on 6th October 2026, will mean in practice.

Throughout the day, delegates will have the opportunity to engage in a series of workshops designed to tackle specific issues in greater depth.

Workshops will cover topics including the Housing (Scotland) Act, the role of artificial intelligence in shaping services, and approaches to reducing antisocial behaviour through community engagement.

Further discussion will look at reputation management and the challenges of meeting the needs of an ageing population, reflecting wider demographic and societal changes influencing housing provision.

Speakers contributing to the programme include Professor Sir John Curtice, David Bookbinder, Rory Cowan and John Blackwood, alongside other sector leaders and specialists with experience across policy, law and operational delivery.

Daryl added: “There is no single solution to the pressures facing housing organisations just now, but there is huge value in bringing different perspectives together.

“When people share what they are seeing on the ground, and what they are trying within their own organisations, it helps build a clearer picture of what effective leadership and governance looks like in practice.”

A further keynote session will hear from Natalie Queiroz MBE, whose powerful story of survival, resilience and transformation will be a standout moment of the day. After surviving a violent attempted domestic homicide while eight months pregnant, she has since used her experience to campaign for victims of crime and criminal justice reform.

In this moving keynote, she will share an honest account of rebuilding life after trauma. She will highlight the role of belief, support and human connection in helping people move forward, and underscore the lasting impact that compassionate professionals can make.

The day will conclude with a closing keynote from John Bachler, chair of Clyde Cycle Park, who will share the story of how the project has grown from its beginnings into a thriving community asset. Having recently featured on the BBC One Show, John’s session will explore the power of community engagement and the real difference it can make, drawing together the wider themes of collaboration and connection that run throughout the day.

Organisers emphasise that the event is designed not only to highlight challenges, but also to showcase examples of innovation, adaptability and effective practice. They say this balance is critical at a time when organisations are being asked to navigate increasing complexity while continuing to deliver essential services.

The conference forms part of Share’s wider work supporting learning and professional development across Scotland’s housing sector, with a particular focus on strengthening governance and leadership.

It is expected to attract professionals working across housing, property management and related fields, as well as those involved in community planning and organisational improvement.

By bringing together a wide range of perspectives, the event aims to support ongoing collaboration and knowledge-sharing beyond a single day.

As a registered charity, Share invests all profits back into the services it provides to continue developing high quality learning and development resources to their members, and has three key values, to be supportive, passionate and excellent in all that it does.
