Shettleston Housing Association hosts 50th anniversary fun day
Shettleston Housing Association (SHA) was recently joined by 850 residents and community members from Shettleston and the surrounding areas to celebrate its 50th anniversary gala day.
In partnership with Community Events Scotland, the event welcomed families, local organisations, community groups and businesses for a packed day of entertainment. Attendees enjoyed live music from Roberta Childs and RISE, fairground attractions, food, face painting, balloon modelling, stalls from local vendors and sports activities from Glasgow Life. All compered by radio presenter Gavin Orr.
SHA said it was grateful to receive a generous £1000 donation from its contractor CCG Scotland Ltd, through its community benefits programme. The contribution helped provide an exciting range of raffle prizes, including a range of vouchers for local businesses. SHA also thanked Nan’s Deli, which kindly donated £100 worth of vouchers, further supporting the raffle and helping to make the event such a success.
A grand total of £360 was raised from the raffle, which will be donated to The Shettleston Men’s Shed and the Keenagers.
As well as providing a fun day out for residents, the event gave local organisations an opportunity to engage with the community through promoting their services and recruiting participants.
SHA extended sincere thanks to everyone who played a part in making the day so memorable, and looks forward to building on this success at future community events.
Shettleston Housing Association’s chairperson, Tracey Kernahan, said: “We had a fantastic turnout for our family fun day, held as part of Shettleston Housing Association’s continued 50th anniversary celebrations. It was great to see so many people from across the community come together and enjoy the day with us. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success.”
