Social Housing Safety Week calls on sector to come together for safer homes
The Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP) is inviting everyone involved in social housing to take part in Social Housing Safety Week 2026, taking place from 16 to 27 November.
Now in its fifth year, the initiative began as National Social Housing Safety and Compliance Week. Led by ASCP, it brings people across the sector together to raise the profile of resident safety and compliance and encourage practical action.
This year’s programme includes free-to-attend webinars offering practical insight, shared experience and continuing professional development (CPD). Everyone involved in social housing is welcome to take part, whether or not they are an ASCP member.
Sessions include lessons from Rykneld Homes’ response to Awaab’s Law, an electrical safety discussion forum with CORGI Technical Services and practical guidance on getting Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) right.
ASCP is also encouraging organisations to use the week as an opportunity to bring their own teams and residents together. Activities could be as simple as watching a webinar together, holding a short team discussion or inviting residents to share their experiences of reporting safety concerns.
Emma Bradbury Gattens, head of sector engagement at CORGI Technical Services | ASCP, said: “Keeping residents safe depends on people across an organisation working together. Specialist teams have a vital role, but so do the colleagues who listen to residents, spot concerns and make sure information reaches the right people.
“Social Housing Safety Week is an opportunity to bring those people together, share what we’re learning and turn conversations into practical improvements. Whether you join a webinar, hold a team discussion or invite residents to share their experiences, we’d love you to be part of it.”
Organisations are invited to join the free webinars and share the programme with colleagues, ask their communications teams to promote the week internally and externally, use the campaign resources and add their logo to the supporters wall, and organise their own meetings, learning sessions or resident activities.
