Taylor Wimpey secures deal to deliver affordable homes for Maidenhill

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has reached an agreement with East Renfrewshire Council to deliver the first 39 affordable homes for social rent at the new Maidenhill community in Newton Mearns.

A wider agreement is in place to deliver a total of 82 affordable homes, which form part of the wider masterplan vision and framework for the new community.

The conclusion of this agreement paves the way for a range of one and two-bedroom cottage flats, two and three-bedroom terraced, three-bedroom semi-detached as well as four-bedroom detached homes to be built in three locations across the development, which will positively contribute to the new neighbourhood that is now growing in East Renfrewshire.

Taylor Wimpey has designed and created an affordable housing range which has allowed its team to deliver accurate, appropriate, and responsive proposals to meet the design brief for affordable homes at Maidenhill.

In real terms, this means that East Renfrewshire Council will take ownership of 82 ‘turn-key’ homes which are ready to move into the day that keys are exchanged.

Caroline Proctor, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Reaching the conclusion of this agreement for Maidenhill marks another milestone on the journey towards creating a fantastic new community that will complement and become an extension to Newton Mearns’ existing neighbourhoods.

“We’ll be working closely with East Renfrewshire Council and the local community to ensure Newton Mearns reaps the benefits of our long-term investment in the area.”
