Tim Pogson has been named as housing convenor by the City of Edinburgh Council following the suspension of Councillor Lezley Marion Cameron.
The current chair of Edinburgh’s Integration Joint Board, Mr Pogson is a service improvement manager at Scotland’s Housing Network and is also a board member of Housing Options Scotland.
Scotland’s Housing Network said Tim’s appointment is a “testament to his deep commitment and expertise in housing and homelessness, areas in which he has consistently demonstrated leadership and innovation”.
A spokesperson said: “Within our organisation, Tim leads on this critical area of work, working with our members, partners and other stakeholders to drive forward improvements that make a tangible difference to people’s lives.
“Tim is a valued member of our team and is highly respected by our members for his thoughtful approach, collaborative spirit, and unwavering dedication to housing and social justice. Tim was elected as councillor for Southside Newington ward in 2022. He takes up the role as housing convenor from 30 October and will undoubtedly lead with the same passion and insight that have defined his contributions to our work.”
Andrea Finkel-Gates, Scotland’s Housing Network CEO, added: “We extend our warmest congratulations to Tim, he is a valued member of our team and we and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in this new capacity at City of Edinburgh Council.”
Edinburgh’s previous housing convener, Councillor Lezley Marion Cameron, was suspended by Scottish Labour after refusing to resign following remarks suggesting the city should relax its affordable housing targets.
