Highland housebuilder Tulloch Homes, part of the Springfield Group, has appointed a new land and planning director to facilitate growth in the region.

David Jewell, who first started with Springfield in 2014, has been promoted to land and planning director for Tulloch Homes. His promotion follows the retirement of Tulloch land director, Scott Strachan, who had worked with the Highland builder since 1999.

With over 25 years’ experience in the industry, David Jewell has been instrumental in securing land and delivering large planning applications for the business, including milestone villages in Dundee and Perth - projects he will continue to be responsible for in his new position. Alongside this, David’s new role will be to meet the growing demand for housing across the Highlands.

David Jewell said: “It is an especially exciting time for the Highlands. We have already seen billions of pounds of investment secured for green infrastructure improvements like the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport and SSEN upgrades to the electricity network, which will see the creation of thousands of jobs.”

To facilitate this growth, The Highland Council has called for more viable sites to enable delivery of 24,000 new homes within the next 10 years to ensure there is housing to meet the vastly increasing demand.

David Jewell continued: “I have been immediately impressed by the proactiveness of the Highland Council and admire the actions they are taking to meet the housing challenge in their area. The Springfield Group as a whole has submitted around 8,500 homes as part of the call for sites and we are looking forward to the Council’s feedback.”

Innes Smith, chief executive for the Springfield Group, added: “David’s promotion will seamlessly enhance our land and planning offering within Tulloch, as well as continuing to lead on planning for Springfield’s villages in Dundee and Perth. He is ideally placed for this role and his expertise will be instrumental to our business strategy.

“We’re extremely grateful for all the work Scott has achieved with Tulloch over the last 26 years and wish him the very best for the future.”
