Leonard Harper Gow, the great grandson of Veterans Housing Scotland’s founder Lord Salvesen, has become an Ambassador for the charity.

He connected with the charity last year as part of the research on its 110-year history.

Group Captain Bob Kemp, chairman of the national charity, said: “I am delighted that Leonard has agreed to become an Ambassador for VHS. I know he will bring an exciting dimension to our work in reaching out to help disabled veterans across Scotland. The charity is most fortunate in being able to be guided and advised by the great grandson of our founder.”

Leonard added that he is proud to be invited to become an Ambassador: “It is my privilege and honour to continue the association with Veterans Housing Scotland following in my Great Grandfather’s footsteps.

“Having spent time with the executive team, met some of the beneficiaries and visited some properties I can say that I’m very impressed by the terrific work done by everyone involved in VHS. The houses and gardens are kept to such a high standard and the residents are proud of their homes.”
