Whiteinch and Scotstoun Housing Association (WSHA) teamed up with The Whiteinch Centre (TWC) to hold a successful and uplifting International Women’s Day event that brought women from across the community together for a day of connection, celebration and wellbeing.

The event at The Whiteinch Centre on Tuesday 10th March created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere with a wide range of activities designed to help attendees relax, have fun and feel empowered.

Highlights included guest speakers from local organisations, live music from a talented local musician who performed in five different languages, alongside food, beauty and spa treatments, chair yoga sessions, a silent disco, and a variety of health and wellbeing activities, all provided free for women in the community.

Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of togetherness as women of all ages and backgrounds came together to share experiences, build connections and celebrate the achievements and strength of women in the community.

Angela Molloy, community services officer at WSHA, said: “The place was buzzing - you could feel the energy as soon as you walked into the room. It was incredibly powerful and quite emotional to see so many women coming together, supporting one another and celebrating what it means to be a woman.

“Moments like that really stay with you, and it showed just how important it is to create spaces where women can connect, uplift each other and feel proud of who they are.”

One attendee reflected on the impact of the day, saying: “I didn’t realise just how much I needed something like this. It gave me the chance to properly relax and de-stress in a way I haven’t been able to for a long time.”

Another community member highlighted the importance of the space created, adding: “It was fantastic to be able to come together in a safe, supportive space and share the day with others from so many different backgrounds and ages - it felt really special.”

The event forms part of WSHA’s ongoing commitment to supporting health and wellbeing, fostering inclusive community spaces, and creating opportunities for people to connect. The success of the day reflects the importance of providing dedicated spaces where people can come together, feel supported and celebrate one another.
