Work starts on new care home in Clarkston

Work is underway on a new, state-of-the-art care home in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire - the latest project in the successful joint venture between Morrison Community Care Group and CCG (Scotland).

‘Greenbank Luxury Suites’ is a new 50-bedroom facility that will be delivered on the former grounds of Greenbank Church and marks another step forward in the partnership’s ambition to transform underutilised sites into high-quality care environments that respond to Scotland’s ageing population and the growing pressure on health and private care services.

The church is using the proceeds of the land sale to support a major renovation of its parish buildings and the construction of a new community facility.

Greenbank is one of four currently under construction across the central belt, with others progressing in Penicuik, Perth, Linlithgow and Glasgow. Together, these developments will add significantly to a pipeline that has already delivered six care homes and created more than 350 high-quality beds since 2017.

The Penicuik care home, for example, is due for completion later this month and sits within a large-scale residential masterplan at Greenlaw Mains. In Anniesland, Glasgow, a new care home is being built on unused land formerly belonging to the Yarrow Recreation Club, with the land sale contributing to upgrades for the club itself. In Linlithgow, a mixed-use site is underway that will include both 60 bed spaces and 18 low-carbon apartments for sale, delivered by CCG Homes.

Each care home delivered through the partnership supports around 100 jobs across construction and operation, and each brings together a wide range of amenities to support residents, including private en-suite bedrooms, cinema rooms, a hair salon, champagne bar, and dining rooms with meals prepared by professionally-trained chefs.

Paul Sokhi, managing director of Morrison Community Care Group, said: “We are delighted to see the Greenbank Luxury Suites move forward. Working with CCG and our appointed design team – comprising Holmes Miller, Design Me, Cowal Design, and CRGP - we’ve been able to create environments that offer safety, comfort and quality of life for residents, while also enabling regeneration and reinvestment in community assets.

“This project will not only provide a much-needed care facility, but will also allow the church to redevelop and continue serving the local area.”

David Wylie, managing director of CCG (Scotland), added: “Our partnership with Morrison Community Care continues to set a benchmark for the delivery of modern, energy-efficient care homes across Scotland. We are particularly proud that these projects are created using the extent of our in-house services, ensuring quality and speed of delivery, while delivering much-valued community assets.

“We look forward to working alongside the Clarkston community in the months ahead.”
