Work underway to deliver 30 affordable homes for Aberdeen
Construction has started for a new scheme of affordable homes to be built on the site of Aberdeen’s former Braeside Primary School.
In collaboration with Malcolm Allan Housebuilders, Grampian Housing Association will deliver 30 energy-efficient houses for social rent, consisting of 20 three and 10 four bedroom homes, including a number of wheelchair accessible homes with parking.
The £7.8 million development has been financed through a grant of £4.8m from the Scottish Government’s affordable housing supply programme as well as the housing association’s current facilities with RBS.
Craig Stirrat Group chief executive officer, Grampian Housing Association said: “This is a rare opportunity to build houses close to the city centre. Developments like this are vital in helping us respond to local housing need with the homes expected to be complete by Spring 2027.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Aberdeen City Council and the Scottish Government for their continued support to ensure Grampian can fulfil its commitment to delivering quality affordable homes.”
Bruce Allan, Malcolm Allan said: “There has been a huge effort to bring this development to fruition, so we are delighted to be finally on site and will work closely with our partners, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver these homes on budget and on time.
“In the middle of this housing emergency, Malcolm Allan Housebuilders is pleased to be able to play its part in delivering these homes in central Aberdeen.”
