Lifestyle: Conversations with tenants

Who is it for and what is it about?

A full day training course for staff working with tenants; including Housing Managers, Housing Officers, Housing Assistants, Arrears Staff, Repairs Officers/Assistants and estate-based staff. 

The purpose of this session is to look at why it is no longer acceptable to just tell tenants the problems they are experiencing are about lifestyle choices. 

It will look at how we can educate tenants around causes of condensation and how they can help to alleviate the problem.  We will also look at the changing landscape of arrears in the current cost of living crisis and how we can work together with tenants to help them navigate the crisis.

    • Causes of condensation, damp and mould.
    • Changing conversations, tenant trust and relationship building
    • Vulnerability and communication
    • Ways to support struggling tenants.
    • Good practice

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, delegates will:

    • Feel more comfortable and confident approaching difficult conversations with tenants
    • Understand and be able to overcome barriers to communication for vulnerable tenants
    • Be able to draw upon and incorporate best practice examples into their own practice
