Repairs and maintenance skills
Who is it for and what is it about?
This course provides an introduction to repairs and maintenance for anyone new to the function or providing frontline customer service in repairs.
Using basic building construction terminology of the main fixtures and fittings, this practical course will empower staff to report more accurately the problems they encounter. This will lead to more effective repairs reporting and assist the organisation in diagnosing and carrying out repairs on a ‘right first time’ basis. The result - delivering a quicker, more effective service for customers and potentially saving money for the organisation.
Course Content
• Basic building construction including correct terminology of fixtures and fittings
• Basic repairs and maintenance - plumbing, joinery and basic electrics
• Health and safety issues associated with practical repairs and maintenance
• Making a diagnosis of the problem to allow the repair to be dealt with more efficiently
Learning Outcomes
As a result of attending this course you will:
• Gain a practical understanding of issues surrounding plumbing, joinery and simple electrics and how these can be dealt with in practice
• Be able to gather the relevant information to accurately report repair work required
• Have the skills, knowledge and confidence in being able to undertake simple repairs and maintenance jobs
• Develop a greater awareness of the health and safety issues and legislation associated with repairs and maintenance work.
