Understanding Buildings & Managing Repairs
Who is it for and what is it about?
This programme has been designed specifically for non-technical staff involved in customer relations and repairs ordering including administrative staff, receptionists, repairs centre staff, housing assistants, officers, and customer service staff. It is also helpful for those managing staff who have repairs reporting responsibilities.
This course also benefits from having Assured status from City & Guilds an meets their quality benchmark for Assured courses.
Aims of the programme
The training programme aims to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding of how buildings are constructed, recognise common maintenance problems and develop the skills needed to successfully manage the administration of reporting building repairs.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
• Identify different building structures and materials used as well as likely repairs required to these structures
• Identify causes of damp, condensation & mould, how this affects tenants and the property as well as the remedies
• Identify how infestations can spread within domestic properties and how to tackle this
• Identify the legislation required of housing providers in carrying out electric and gas inspections as well as the common areas of maintenance
• Identify plumbing and drainage systems, where these are likely to go wrong, and simple solutions tenants need to know to rectify these issues.
• Understand the process of managing repairs effectively and how to ensure these repairs are handled correctly.
