RSLs up and down the country are working hard to ensure that they are ready for freedom of information (FOI) for 11 November 2019. The interface between FOI and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an issue that is likely to come up frequently for RSLs when handling and responding to FOI requests involving personal data. One year from today, the new General Data Protection Regulation will come into force. It will make radical changes to how RSLs collect and process personal data about their tenants, staff, service providers and contractors. RSLs are advised to start taking steps towards compliance now and develop action plans to prepare themselves for when the clock strikes midnight on 25 May 2018.
