Housing and care provider Blackwood has secured new housing support contracts with South Ayrshire Council.

The charity has taken over the role of housing support services for two supported complexes in Ayr, Orchard Court and Hamilton House.

The initial three year contract with the possibility of a two year extension will see Blackwood provide care to over 60 people, 7 days a week.

The housing support services at both complexes were previously managed by West of Scotland Housing Association whose staff will remain on board and join the Blackwood team.

Irene Morrison, service manager at St Leonards Court in Ayr will take on the responsibility of managing the new services and believes the move will provide enhanced levels of care for service users.

She said: “I’m delighted to be managing the new services and very much looking forward to helping to expand our care and support.

“2015 is set to be a pivotal year for Blackwood furthering its objectives and striving for care innovation – and this is a great opportunity to show that.

Fanchea Kelly, chief executive at Blackwood, is also delighted with the contract wins and hopes for continued expansion.

She said: “At Blackwood we always strive to achieve the best results and the best provisions of care.

“At the heart of Blackwood are the people, and the feedback from them is what lets us know how we can improve and adapt our service.

“Our new contract success is just another example of our commitment and dedication to expanding our care provisions across the country.”
