More tree-mendous volunteering at Maryhill Housing Association

marryhill-chtistmasIt was a Christmas cracker of an idea and proved to be a festive hit in Maryhill and Ruchill.

Staff and board members from Maryhill Housing Association hit the volunteering trail for the second time in four months this week.

And the aim was to bring seasonal cheer to the Ruchill and Maryhill communities and the people who live there.

The second ‘Wee Volunteer Day’ follows the success of the first one in August which was the biggest-ever volunteering effort ever undertaken by Staff and the Board.

The Christmas volunteering day included:

*A Christmas lunch for senior citizens in Ruchill

*Afternoon tea for seniors at Maryhill’s 2 sheltered housing developments

*A community litter clean up

*Bag packing in Tesco, Maryhill

*Charity car wash

*A grounds clean up at Kelbourne Park special needs school

Funds raised during the day are being donated to the Ruchill Furniture Project.

The afternoon was rounded off by a giant carol singing event led by the staff at Maryhill’s first ever open-air Christmas tree at Maryhill Burgh Halls.

Maryhill Housing Association gratefully acknowledges the generosity of Richard and the Kelvin Café located inside the burgh halls for providing free tea and coffee to the carol singers.
