Additional support services available for Cadder households

Cadder Housing Association has secured further aid which will be used to help Cadder households during these difficult times thanks to funding from Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government.

The Association will use funding from Glasgow City Council’s ‘Addressing Future Needs Fund’ to provide tablets to households, who otherwise would not have suitable access to the internet and can therefore be disadvantaged as a result of digital exclusion. The tablets will also be used to help school children with their studies, with the project having the support of Cadder Primary School.

The Association has also been successful in obtaining funding from the Scottish Government’s ‘Social Housing Fuel Support Fund’ and will work with its long-term partner, the Wise Group, which has a specialist energy advice team. The awarded funding will help the Association to provide tenants with financial assistance towards energy debts and purchase outdated/inefficient white goods. The Wise Group will work with tenants on a longer-term basis to provide energy advice, energy supplier switching, etc.

John McShane, customer services manager, said: “The Association is grateful to Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government for its support, which will complement the support mechanisms already in place for our residents. These difficult times have not been lost on us and we know that this funding will be able to provide much needed help to many of our households. I would also like to thank Glasgow North West Citizens Advice Bureau and the Wise Group for their support.”
