Our services

Montgomery Housing and Equality Services (MHES) has worked with over sixty social landlords throughout Scotland since 2001. This work includes developing and implementing a wide range of policies and procedures (see section below). For example, we have assisted nineteen social landlords in developing their allocation policies and procedures; this includes nine local authorities or twenty eight per cent of all Scottish local authorities. One large local authority client has recently stated:

“I really enjoyed working with you and I certainly learned a lot from you, from that day we met in Edinburgh, I knew we had to enrol your help with the new (allocation) policy.”

(Senior Allocation Manager with a Scottish local authority on completion of a major allocation review and many other policies and procedures in 2015).

In working with partner organisations, we adopt a systemic and holistic framework that incorporates equality and data protection issues into housing policy developments; this, in effect, allows organisations to mainstream equality and data protection activities into practice.

Our services

We provide a range of services that are tailored to the needs and budgets of each organisation. Examples of these services are:

Access to an initial policy audit that we provide free of charge to illustrate whether partnership working is likely to be beneficial.

Provision of comprehensive procedural documentation that includes detailed text, standard letters, staff guidance and a portfolio of performance indicators

Example: These are available, for instance, for data protection (GDPR policy and procedural changes), equality strategies, allocations and tenant rights. This enables organisations to implement new legal developments relatively quickly while making substantial savings from an organisational developmental perspective.

Providing learning and development programmes that are based on organisational policies thus ensuring value for money. and

Having access to specialist documentation relating to activities such as allocation consultation templates, allocation action plans, harassment procedures (covering all the protected characteristics) and suspensions.
