Scotland’s official heat network advice organisation has received a major endorsement from one of Europe’s leading energy providers.

Charity Advice Direct Scotland is now officially listed as a trusted contact on Vattenfall’s website, marking a significant milestone in its mission to support the rollout of low-carbon heating across the country.

Vattenfall, which supplies heat to more than 550,000 homes across Europe, is currently working in partnership with Midlothian Energy Limited - a joint venture with Midlothian Council to deliver low-carbon heat to more than 3,000 customers in Scotland.

In April, Advice Direct Scotland became the national consumer advice agency for heat network users in Scotland. The charity said that being featured as a trusted source of advice by such a prominent player in the European energy sector was a strong vote of confidence in the organisation’s expertise and role.

It also reinforces Scotland’s commitment to decarbonising heat and supporting communities through the transition to more sustainable energy systems.

John Baird, head of partnerships at Advice Direct Scotland, said: “Getting listed by Vattenfall is a huge step forward. It shows that we’re not only trusted locally but also recognised by international leaders in the heat network space.

“We’re proud to support Scottish households and businesses as the country moves towards a low-carbon future.”

This recognition comes as Scotland continues to scale up its heat network infrastructure, with government-backed initiatives aiming to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency across the housing sector.

Heat network consumers can access direct support through Advice Direct Scotland either via energyadvice.scot or through the helpline 0808 196 8660. The service already provides consumers with support and advice related to energy issues including billing, affordability and energy efficiency.
