Govan Housing Group has appointed experienced social housing leader Allan Murphy as its new chair.
Allan brings decades of leadership experience and deep sectoral knowledge to the role, having spent much of his professional career advocating for high-quality housing and community regeneration across Scotland. He most recently served as chief executive of Dunbritton Housing Association for nine years, building a strong reputation across the RSL sector for championing organisational excellence, tenant services and wider community investment.
In his new role as chair, Allan will lead Govan Housing Group’s board in overseeing the delivery of its strategic vision. He joins at a time of significant progress for the organisation, marked by sector-leading regeneration projects, physical investment in homes and services, and a continued commitment to creating sustainable, thriving communities across Govan.
Allan succeeds outgoing chair Gary Maguire, who has stepped down after providing strong leadership and dedication to the group during his tenure. Under Gary’s guidance, Govan Housing Group navigated key sectoral challenges while maintaining a clear focus on community welfare, governance and long-term financial stability.
Caron Quinn, chief executive officer at Govan Housing Group, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Allan as our new Chair. His track record in the Scottish housing sector speaks for itself, and his strategic vision will be invaluable as we drive forward our plans for Govan’s homes and neighbourhoods.
“On behalf of everyone at Govan Housing Group, I would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Gary Maguire for his outstanding contribution. Gary’s stewardship and dedication over the years have left the organisation in a very robust position, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
Commenting on his appointment, Allan Murphy said: “It is a privilege to take on the role of chair at Govan Housing Group. Housing associations play a vital role in empowering local communities, and Govan has a rich history of resilience and ambition. I look forward to working closely with Caron, the board and our staff to build on these strong foundations, ensuring we continue delivering high-quality, affordable homes and meaningful support for our tenants.”
