A former restaurant in Monifieth has been earmarked by Angus Housing Association as a new single headquarters.

The association is in talks to buy the restaurant wing of the one-time Brewers Fayre beside the A92 Dundee to Arbroath dual carriageway.

A change of use planning application has been submitted to Angus Council. The 41-bedroom hotel at Ethiebeaton Park will remain open under the plans.

Angus Housing Association said the move will bring together its teams currently based in the High Street, Arbroath and Ormiston Crescent, Dundee, into one modern, accessible office, designed to support improved collaboration, efficiency and service delivery for tenants across Angus and Dundee.

Gail Robertson, chief executive, said: “After a long search for a suitable site, we now have the opportunity to bring our teams together in one place.

“Due to continued growth in our stock and staffing, we have now outgrown the space available in Arbroath and Dundee. This will improve services for tenants and enable colleagues to work more efficiently together in a modern, accessible office space.

“This is a significant step forward in our plans to grow the association and demonstrates our continued commitment to the local area and the communities we serve.”

The Association said it has continued to grow in recent years with staff numbers increasing.

Meanwhile, post-pandemic changes in working patterns have seen reduced footfall in its office buildings.

A tenant satisfaction survey conducted last year found that 79% of tenants prefer to contact the Association by phone.

By creating a single headquarters, Angus Housing Association aims to ensure best value for tenants while continuing to strengthen services and invest in long-term improvements.

Importantly, it said, there would be no redundancies as a result of the move.

The building in Ormiston Crescent would be retained for selected services, meetings and community use. Its Russell Square office in Arbroath will also remain open for tenant engagement.

Should the project progress, the relocation is expected sometime in 2027.
