Approval for first homes at Taylor Wimpey’s Bannock Wood development
Midlothian Council has approved an Application for Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSCs) to deliver the first new homes in the Bannock Wood neighbourhood near Bonnyrigg, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has announced.
This approval for 363 new homes will offer a mixture of two, three, four and five-bedroom private homes for a variety of buyers, including 25% affordable two and three-bedroom homes, one and two-bedroom apartments as well as cottage flats.
The project would provide:
• Roughly 1,000 new homes, providing a choice of detached, semi-detached and terraced properties to appeal to a wide range of buyers.
• Provision of open space
• A total of 25% affordable homes and apartments.
• New cycleways, pedestrian footpaths, and the realignment of parts of the current bridleway and core path to pave the way for green, active travel and connect with neighbouring communities.
• Protection and enhancement of Little Wood to deliver a green corridor across the development, with new paths linking to existing informal routes.
• Transport infrastructure enhancements, including two new roundabouts at A6094/Rosewell Road and B6392/Burnbrae Terrace, and provision for a bus route through the development.
• A new public park, Dalhousie Chesters Park, which has a play area.
Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are pleased to have secured this AMSC approval to deliver the first new homes at Bannock Wood, at a time when our programme of infrastructure works is making great progress.
“This latest planning consent represents a significant and positive step for Bannock Wood and realises our long-term vision and commitment to this new neighbourhood in Midlothian.”
Mills added: “We will continue to work closely with Midlothian Council as our programme of preconstruction works to build the first new homes gets underway, and we prepare to launch them for sale around spring/summer next year.”
